Themenerd

The latest Theme Magazine is out and we love it.  The ‘theme’ of this issue is nerds.

In the "From the Editors" section, Jiae and John write:

Admit it.  You’re a nerd.  In this, our ninth issue (our third year, yeah!) we head to Comic Con, where we met some really cool comics-loving nerds: "We’re not going to cosplay today, we’re just going to hang out."  We have a chat with pop’s beatmaker, N.E.R.D.’s Chad Hugo.  We discover what makes Aya T. Kanai so friggin’ cool that she’s able to play puppetmaster to pop culture.  We go deep into the minds of three young, successful RGB masters: YouTube’s Steve Chen, Gothamist’s Jen Chung, and gaming’s new wunderkind, Jenova Chen.  And we quiz R. Kikuo Johnson to see if he really is a nerd.

Recently doing a bit of research on gaming ourselves, we particulary enjoyed the article on Jenova Chen and his mission to create a game that make you feel good as well as the article on YMCK, an 8-bit jazz-pop band that’s "attracting packed crowds of both male and female Japanese thirtysomethings who want to relive a bit of their youth…"

Unfortuneatly, neither of these articles are up on their site, so you’ll just have to go out and pick up the issue in print.
