Apple and Mercedes Team Up?

GmapiphonetmApple has undoubtedly been very busy of late, although nobody can ever seem to verify what exactly it is they’re up to, but word has it that they have teamed up with Mercedes and will be including both navigation systems and entertainment in their vehicles by 2009. Wired Reports:

As Apple rumors go, this one is pretty unbelievable, but after a little thought it makes a lot of sense. German site Focus has published a completely unsubstantiated claim that Apple will team up with Mercedes to bring in-car entertainment and navigation to the cars in 2009.

Crazy, huh? What next? Apple branded toasters? Wait, they already did that. But take a look at the iPhone. No GPS yet, but it will doubtless turn up in a future version, and Apple is all over the easy touch-screen experience. Is it so odd to think that the company might make a car specific iPod? The iPod Auto, if you will.
