Etsy Labs

Etsy, the ebay of the DIY craft world is an online market place that enables crafters to sell to their handmade products from their own virtual storefronts.  The site has tens of thousands of registered sellers and significantly more buyers.   Membership is required to buy or sell, but registration is free and easy.

Besides providing a platform for distributing crafts, Etsy has also opened up their doors at their Brooklyn headquarters to teach people how to support themselves by making things.  The facility (Etsy Labs) provides workshops on making things, advice and help with maintaining your online Etsy shop, a place to meet other artists, as well as other various community events.  Becoming a ‘Pal’ of the lab costs $20 per month and gives you access to all of the features mentioned above.  The labs are open everyday from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
