K-Punk: Picking Away at the Symbolic Order
For those of us still vaguely interested in tearing down the world order, or for any of the potentially rabid critical theory jockeys out there, check out the incendiary blog K-Punk, a Slavoj Zizek inspired swipe at the inanity of PoMo culture junkies and their universally impotent ejaculations.
Although most of us probably won’t get much out of articles like "lip-synch the unheimlich", a look at the uncanny "karaoke of doppelgangers" in the British mini-series from the 80′s The Singing Detective, for anyone at all skeptical of the self-pleasuring hipster vortex that is NYC and London right now (and which I am, it seems, a part of), and who tentatively still believe in the power of action and the "taking of positions", this blog is not to be missed.
Also, just for the pure sassiness of this guy’s critiques of pop culture––even though one may find fault with some of his more overtly masculine posturing––anyone who has any interest in punk rock, politics and the bottomless dregs of "low culture" will find something here to subsist them, even if the Real doesn’t make its promised return and blast open a gaping hole in the symbolic order. For those readers who have no idea what I’m talking about, rest assured you’re probably better off, but check out the site anyway, it’s really cool.
