All of a sudden everyone seems to be on Facebook and these Facebook apps seem to be making the space look rather useful. I got bombarded with friend requests so I added a profile and even set up a PSFK group (to do what, I don’t know – but you’re welcome to join).
Here’s something fun and odd: limited edition virtual gifts I can buy and send to other Facebookers.
For $1 I can buy this JPEG of a cream cheese bagel and send it to a friend. Which sounds a little daft. But I bet there are quite a few people doing it.

Yep i think this is what the kids are spending their money on and i bet there are all sorts of popularity competitions along with it.
I sent my one free gift to a friend the other day and noticed that it was a limited edition for June.
I think I secretly wish someone would send one to me. I can’t believe I’m so addicted to Facebook.

Don’t understand the virtual gift thing. Couldn’t someone simply copy and paste the jpeg to ’steal’ the virtual bagel? What makes one authentic?

These gifts are very popular, I can’t google up the number right now, but they are supposed to be making about $100,000 a week(or month i forget) from them.
They probably took the idea from cyworld, where it has been wildly successful. This post has from Unit Structures explains the gifting pretty well.
