LumiGram: Bringing the Light Back to Fashion
Imagine: you’re in a dark dance club, the music’s pounding, you’re feeling a little bored, everyone’s pretty much dressed then same than BAM, the kid in front of you turns on her shirt. Minds are blown.
Disco’s back, with a growing passion, and LumiGram just might be the unbridled fun-loving gear every Parisian discotheque idolizing dace-a-holic should own. Cheezy? Of course, but that’s the point, have fun and play a bit with your style!
The Paris based company offers a plethora of illuminating fabrics, not just clothes, so expect some further exploration into how the material can be used and abused.
How are they powered you might ask?
The Luminous Fabric can be supplied directly by 110/220 Volt using a
small transformer. Both rechargeable and traditional batteries can be
used in mobile/wearable applications to provide high performance
lighting (bags, clothes or any other mobile item). The battery is
inserted in the most practical available housing for the manufactured
item.
You might not be able to fold them, but, fantastically, they’re hand washable. This technology’s got us in a twist because it’s so straight up fun. Anyone with the cajones to strap on a battery powered shirt to pull off and complete an outfit’s alright in our book.
We’d love to see some more serious interpretations and uses of the fabric as well, but keep an eye out for party kids rocking it like it’s 1989. Someone’s bound to step up.
