The ultimate chocolate for guys and girls? Sean brought a bar of Vosges chocolate into the office the other day and got a rather frenzied reaction as he shared it. After all, it was a new bacon flavored ‘exotic’ bar from top-shelf chocolate maker Vosges. The site reads:
Deep milk chocolate coats your mouth and leads to the crunch of smoked bacon pieces. Surprise your mouth with the smoked salt and sweet milk chocolate combination.
Crisp, buttery, compulsively irresistible bacon and milk chocolate combination has long been a favorite of mine. I started playing with this combination at the tender age of six while eating chocolate chip pancakes drenched in maple syrup. Beside my chocolate-laden cakes laid three strips of fried bacon, just barely touching a sweet pool of maple syrup. Just a bite of the bacon was too salty and yearned for the sweet kiss of chocolate syrup. In retrospect, perhaps this was a turning point, for on that plate something magical happened: the beginnings of a combination so ethereal and delicious that it would haunt my thoughts until I found the medium to express it–chocolate.

I picked up one of these bars at Sam’s liquors, figuring I’d give Vosges the benefit of the doubt, as I’ve adored both their Barcelona and Black Pearl bars.
The bacon is exceptionally strong and smokey, which would normally overwhelm most chocolate, but the smoked salt unifies the two. It’s more of a savory bar than you’d expect, and extremely bold, but the richness of the chocolate holds up well.
The only real criticism I have is that the bacon bits are extremely hard and sharp, which makes the push-it-up-against-your-palate-let-it-melt experience more than just a bit perilous.

I was so excited to hear about this chocolat bar! I have been wondering, are the bacon in this chocolat long strips, as pictured on de package, or is they in teeny pieces?

I have already told my friends all about it and offered the the ‘fire’ bar which they were wild about & plan to purchase
