MySpace, in an effort to tap into the rapidly expanding internet fashion community, has launched a new section in it’s news area. It functions essentially like a technorati page, collecting headlines from top fashion sites and blogs from all over the net. While still in it’s beta stages, the site has a rating system built in so that users can weigh in on topics internally through the MySpace environment.
All well and good, but MySpace is a bit late to the online fashion game. Iqons.com, which launched earlier this year, has already been dubbed the "MySpace for Fashion." Following in their footsteps, Nick Knight added a social networking section to his SHOWstudio.com, enabling users to post profiles and samples of their work for others to browse and comment on.
While MySpace is focusing more on the news side of fashion, the other sites seem to have a pretty solid handle on the networking side of things. Perhaps a showdown for user-ship is in order; or, in this case, a walkoff might be more appropriate.
