Sneakerheads Beware, Know Your Fakes

If you’ve ever browsed for limited sneakers on ebay, you know there’s a plethora of fake gear floating around. There’s a huge market for knockoff designer products of all kinds, but some fake sneakers can be tricky to tell apart from their legit counterparts. Luckily, Sneaker Freaker has put together a handy fake-spotting guide to aid you in your quest for that perfect pair.
Well, not really, but they sat down with Richard Stanwix, Head of Brand Security for Nike, and asked him about his job and experiences with bogus goods.
As you will read in this new interview, the incidence of counterfeit goods is going up quicker than the price of petrol, and the quality is getting better as well.
As many of you use eBay and buy shoes online, Richard also has some sobering news - up to 98% of shoes at any given time may be fakes. Just remember that statistic next time you’re awake in the middle of the night in your undies bidding for a bargain pair of jordans. On the other hand, if you’re tempted to make some easy money by answering one of those emails promising bulk shipments of $20 supreme dunks that you can flip for a tidy margin, think again. Someone out there is watching and the consequences can be severe.
