A New Dating Game

Wooloo Dating

Finding the right mate ranks high on everybody’s to-dos, but figuring out how to do it is still a mystery to most. In an experimental twist on the traditional matchmaking scheme, Wooloo, a Berlin-based artist organization, is seeking out love-hungry artists to apply for their upcoming Avant-Garde Dating project. Based on how applicants respond to the daunting prompt of explaining how their new relationship “will explore the conventions of monogamous love, challenge the idea of artistic collaboration and/or explore one of the other numerous stereotypes of human pairing,” Wooloo will determine who makes for good couplings, and the three most promising (or atleast most interesting) will serve (and be observed) as a sort of week-long performance art piece/love experiment, living together for a week in Berlin.

As more people are turning to the internet in their search for companionship, Avante-Garde Dating is a playful caricature of what can result - a sort of couples’ Real World for artists. Let’s hope no one gets into a bar fight and has to get sent home…

Applications are being accepted until July 20, and anyone with an online membership to Wooloo (which is free) may apply.
