Coming Soon: YouTube-Ready Cameras

By Joel Horowitz on July 11, 2007

Yesterday, Casio announced the upcoming release of two digital cameras that have the option to capture video at YouTube-optimized video codec. This means that after recording Uncle Al belly-flop into his backyard swimming pool, you’ll be able to upload the MPEG-4 video file directly from your camera to YouTube in two steps – all without dealing with time-consuming video conversion/compression software.

“We are constantly looking for ways to make it simpler for our community to create and share videos,” said Hunter Walk, YouTube product management. “The YouTube Capture mode featured on these Casio EXILIM cameras is remarkably innovative and easy to use, and will further expand and diversify the incredible range of originally-created content for which YouTube is known.”

Expect the YouTube-branded Casio Exilim this coming holiday season.
