“If you talk, they will listen” > the effervescent mantra that at one time permeated marketing has now evolved to: “If you engage, they will talk.”
The Age of Conversation is a collective conscience of this trend, but in a digital sense > more of a digital conscience. A blog project that began with two smart marketers, Drew McLellan in Iowa and Gavin Heaton in Australia, and a smart question: How are citizen marketers changing the ad landscape?
Brand marketing has for a long time been about shouting from the tallest building with the loudest voice and hoping to peak the interest of some consumers in the line and sight of your message. But coming into greater play nowadays is the “wisdom of the crowd” (thanks Richard). When people get together, they make things happen > we’ve known this for a long time, but now with the web, these groupings and conversations can happen on a much larger scale. Check out the first state of this observation and read The Cluetrain Manifesto.
And if reading and linking is too much, check out Get Shouty for an artful account of what the book will bring you. Blog on!

Thanks for picking this up. This is an exciting experiment in crowdsourced wisdom and collaborative content creation and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. It’s great to see the project recognized by PSFK.

Wow! We’re not in Kansas anymore Toto- PSFK reads my blog…
It’s tremendously exciting to be part of this project. Writing our chapters is only a small part of the experiment.
What happens when over 100 experienced marketing bloggers work together to create conversation and awareness?
In 24 hours, we sold 317 copies and made $2,563.63 for the charity. There are already over 400 blog posts about the book, which has been achieved in less than 3 days and there’s a Facebook group with nearly 100 members.
There are many layers yet to unfold! Follow the conversation at http://www.ageofconversation.com/
