Ensure Your Roasted Coffee Is 8 Days Old

by Piers Fawkes

Courier CoffeeSean is not happy. He moved from Sydney to New York to find out that the Manhattan cup of Joe is not up to his standard. You see, he explains to everyone, the best time to make coffee is to use beans 8 days after they’ve been roasted. Before that, the coffee’s not so good. After that the coffee gradually deteriorates. And it’s not as if we see a ‘Roasted On’ label on our coffee in NYC.

Maybe Sean should have taken that other job in Portland then because there he can get hand delivered coffee from a guy called Joel who runs Courier Coffee Roasters from his garage. UO reports that he hand writes on the packaging, listing the date and time the coffee was roasted and hand delivers every morning on his bicycle. Nice.
