Global Cities

by Colin Nagy

urban-growth.jpgGlobal Cities is a major exhibition currently taking place at the Tate Modern in London.  According to the museum, “the exhibit looks at the changing faces of ten dynamic international cities: Cairo, Istanbul, Johannesburg, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Mumbai, São Paulo, Shanghai and Tokyo and examines each of them through five thematic lenses – speed, size, density, diversity and form.”

The exhibit uses films, videos, photography, and large-scale installations “to offer subjective and intimate interpretations of urban conditions in all ten cities.”  They have also created a surprisingly enjoyable and extensive website with all of the information neatly broken down and organized by ‘five thematic lenses.’

The exhibition runs now through August 27th.
