M&S: Carbon Offsetting Is A Last Resort

We always love the eco-consciousness that Marks & Spencer is wearing on its sleeve right now. This board we spotted at the Oxford Street store talks about Plan A - because “there is no Plan B.”

The first board says Plan A. Five years. Five Commitments, One World, 100 Things To Change. The 5 commitments are Climate Change, Waste, Sustainable Raw Materials, Fair Partner and Health. The second board says:

“We’ll aim to make our Uk and Irish operations carbon neutral within 5 years. We’ll maximise our use of renewable energy and only use offsetting as a last resort. And, we’ll be helping our customers and suppliers to cut their carbon emissions too”

  1. Love the site. This was an especially interesting story about what’s going on the UK. Europe has long been ahead of the US in recognizing the need for greener lifestyle.

Curious, how might one learn more about the issues aroudn branding and sustainability?
