“The Notting Hill Carnival will kick off this weekend with its first official TV channel after signing a deal with ITV Local, the regional web TV service from ITV,” reports Media Guardian.

The carnival which is led by London’s Caribbean population has been running since 1959 and is considered one of the largest street festivals in Europe. Creating its own media channel seems to be a natural extension of the event, if its seeking to expand its appeal to a global audience and foreign visitors. Can Web TV help help the Carnival deliver on the popular business adage, “Think Local. Act Global?”

  1. I am in Jamaica but cannot access the Web TV station. I am doing a Marketing Course and am interested in proposing advertising on the station.

Is the station aired solely around the time of the Carnival? If no, could you give me an idea of the cost for placing a stationary advertisement on your web page.
