could not agree with you more about this conference…I won’t be attending again.

What I witnessed was:
a) the same old people
b) saying the same old things

For all the brou-ha-ha about “change,” it was just more of the same. A waste of time!

Piers, I’ve always wanted to go to one of these planner conferences, so thanks for the heads up. Not to “butter your bread” but what I like about your event is that trends are experienced in real-time — maybe a bit before. It sounds as if the AAAA planner conference was a bit of an expensive ass-grab. Peace!

All conferences have faults and the genral concept needs to be blown up.

The bloated structure is past its sell by date.

So, when’s the Barcamp for Planners, because that’s what we need?

I’m a brazilian planner and I had the same feeling reading local blogs that were covering the event. few posts, the same sensation that “there wasn’t enough to blog about”. it is a shame.

couldn’t agree more with piers. one would think that a variety of backgrounds and thinking would be the norm, or even the goal, at a planning conference. isn’t that what we talk about all the damn time? fresh thinking that often comes from smaller, smarter firms (psfk included, of course) wasn’t represented and certainly they weren’t encouraged to participate. although i am sure that they would have let you sponsor a crappy coffee break. you could have given out something to take away that was useful. i guess the flashing pen did provide some entertainment during the conference…anyway, please don’t judge planners by this especially pathetic conference. who is filing the divorce papers?

I was wondering why there haven’t been many bloggers actually blogging about the event. sounds like there wasn’t enough to blog about, which means there wasn’t enough stimulating/thought-provoking information, which means everyone was wondering why they were there, which means maybe I’m glad I couldn’t go.
Sorry the experience wasn’t better for you Piers. MY experience reading this post though, I will thank you for. LOL Hilarious!
