Cracking Open a Nice, Cold “Sprite Super Chilled”

by Christine Huang

sprite.jpgCoca-Cola has announced plans for debuting its newest beverage offering in the UK next year - “Sprite Super Chilled,” a Sprite contained in special packaging that creates ice inside the soft drink when it’s opened. According to MarketingWeek, the technology used to create this ice-cold variant of Sprite “aims to extend its appeal to the urban youth,” hoping to tap into their preference for extra-chilled alcoholic drinks (particularly beer).

While we’re not entirely clear on the mechanisms involved, the company claims that when a drinker twists off the top to the Sprite Super Chilled bottle, formation of ice made from the drink is immediately triggered.

If the new super-cold drink proves successful, Coke and Diet Coke variations are expected to hit shelves shortly after.
