Tracking the social graph: Plaxo launches Pulse

by Adrian Lai

Plaxo Pulse

Plaxo is one of the best address book syncs we’ve come across. Now they’ve launched a new feature which lets people sync their social profiles. It’s called Pulse and and it allows you to aggregate your data streams from social sites around the web. Not only that. You’ll also be able to subscribe to your friends feeds.

There’s an increasing trend of social applications that provide all-in-one locations for tracking your “Social Graph,” as pointed out by Dino on Chroma Inc. He defines social graph as “the aggregate sum of our network and connection, the bits and pieces of information and content we pull together in various applications (Twitter, Flickr, Last.fm, Facebook, YouTube, Pownce, the list goes on).”

Here’s Mashable’s list of 20 sites to aggregate your social profiles. And a similar site that’s been brought to our attention recently is Wixi, a embeddable flash player to aggregate and publish various media like videos, songs, etc.

With so many channels to tune into nowadays, information overload is common. There’s a great opportunity for applications to help people automate their information management.
