Asia To Do All The Fun Jobs Too
An article in the Korea Times reminds us of a previous discussion on PSFK where we suggested that, despite the intentions of the West, Asia’s not only going to make everything they’re also going to design it too… leaving the West to wonder what to do once their Wacom boards are slipped from under their creative hands. According to the paper, Seoul has been designated as the “World Design Capital (WDC) 2010” by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design:
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said in his acceptance speech, “Design will be a driving force in developing Seoul’s economy. Seoul has surprised the world with the `Miracle of the Han River’ and great information technology, but will now attract the world’s attention with design.” He said Seoul would prove that design has the power to change the world.
