BBC Available At Every WiFi You’d Normally Have To Grudgingly Pay For

By Piers Fawkes on October 17, 2007

If you go to one of The Cloud’s 7,500 hotspots in the UK, the BBC will be available for free – thanks to a deal they’ve agreed. Eventually folk will be able to download shows on their mobile devices at these spots.

The thing is, don’t we all just want free WiFi access. Couldn’t a corporation like the BBC that’s set up to serve the public create a nationwide WiFi grid instead of promoting the services of a WiFi company?

They’re also developing this proprietary iPlayer thing in bloody Flash to ensure copyright control etc – another short-termist approach by the Beeb.
