CitizenM Hotels - Hospitality for the Mobile Citizen
For people who “travel a lot, but travel wisely”: citizenM hotels, the latest hospitality chain to promise affordable luxury for the plugged in traveler. The Dutch hotel group takes its name from the idea of the “mobile citizen” - similar to the concept of the Bedouin Worker we’ve mentioned frequently here. A typical room at citizenM includes free WiFi, a super king-size bed, a wall-to-wall window for plenty of natural light, a flat LCD TV (featuring free movies on demand), ambient lighting and a rain shower. On top of these amenities, each room is fully customizable according to music, light, mood, and temperature preferences; these settings are all stored on guests’ room keys to be automatically uploaded upon their return.
The lobby offers self check-in as well as a 24-hour food and beverage shop offering sandwiches, salads, sushi, warm dishes and more. The first citizenM will open at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport at the beginning of next year (they’ll start taking reservations Oct 31) with 230 rooms starting at 69 euros a night. The hotel group plans to expand in Glasgow, London, Berlin, Milan, Barcelona, Brussels and Copenhagen next.
