The New Chumby -for those of you who haven’t come across this charming lil’ gadget yet, now is a good time to get acquainted. Earlier this week, Chumby Industries released the latest version of their compact internet-streaming device, a soup bowl-sized mini-computer that provides you with a constant feed of entertainment and information from the web - from photos to weather to blogs - via a wireless internet connection. Setting up the Chumby requires no registration, network fees, or membership; just plug it in, pick the content you want to watch, and watch the latest content from your favorite widgets on the little bean-bag monitor. It also comes equipped with two external USB 2.0 full-speed ports, stereo speakers, a touchscreen display, and a “squeeze sensor” (awwww). You can group widgets in channels for easy viewing and share your favorite content with other chumby viewers. On top of all that, Chumby is “completely hackable” (its designs and specifications are posted on the site for developers to create their own add-ons) and available for under $200.
