An article entitledChance To Invest In Love Hotels in the FT somehow caught our eye in our RSS dive this morning and a quick read gave us some rather interesting stats on short-term hotels in Japan. The FT says:
Japan has about 25,000 of the hotels, which provide short-stay locations for couples. An estimated 2 per cent of Japan’s adult population visit a love hotel every day. The industry has approximate annual revenues of £17.5bn a year, more than the UK’s entire hotel market, with each room used up to three times daily.
Japan Leisure Hotels is planning to raise up to £100m ($203m) on London’s Aim market to create a branded chain of Japanese love hotels.
