Official iPhone Applications, Brought to You By Apple

by Christine Huang

scenario-poker-iphone.jpgOh, happy day (for iPhone addicts)! According to ardent Apple-trackers, an official directory for web-based iPhone applications will soon be made available through the Apple website - as soon as next Wednesday. The buzz started when an anonymous source leaked that representatives from the company had begun seeking out developers of unofficial iPhone apps, requesting that they submit descriptions, screenshots, icons, and other information about their applications.

Supposedly the process by which Apple is approaching the authors of third-party applications is very similar to the way they went about building their own Dashboard downloads directory.

Update: Apple’s directory for iPhone web-apps went live today - get your Bejeweled fix now.
