Maybe a ripple, but not a shock. Major changes like this happen over long periods of time, not a few years, and in the process, economies adapt and change. Bio-fuels, along with the eventually development of reliable and economical solar cell technology will gradually shape the next 40 years...bit by bit... After all, the oil companies still need to make some money... There won’t be any economic shock. Maybe a ripple, but not a shock. The economic shock that will hit the world. We already have the Mexican tortilla crisis as an example. After the growing US interest in corn the prices exploded, which is a real crisis since corn is the staple food of Mexico. The "SUV-loving John and Jane" should rather learn how to save energy instead of searching for other sources to "burn and waste". I wonder why the other big problem of bio-fuel isn’t mentioned here.
