Kira Plastinina is a 15-year-old Russian girl with a filthy-rich father. She’s also the public face of and (ostensibly) the designer for her own fashion label: Kira Plastinina Style. The company, which was unveiled just seven months ago and is being funded by the girl’s produce-magnate father, is one of the fastest-growing fashion brands in Russia: 28 stores to date, with 40 planned by January, and an estimated earning of $20 million in its first year.
What’s more, the brand’s flamboyant style is about to hit the US market, as Plastinina makes plans to open 10 stores in New York and Los Angeles in the first half of 2008. In a time of metered tones and tailored silhouettes, we’re not quite sure the US consumer is ripe for heavy doses of tulle and hot pink, but we’re very curious to see how this Russian steamroller fares stateside.
