Tesco Tackling E-waste

by Jeff Squires

tesco-telecoms.pngAccording to recent Tesco Mobile survey, approximately 11 million Brits plan on upgrading to a new mobile phone this Christmas. As for the replaced phones, somewhere around 20% them will likely be tossed out.

In response, Tesco is rolling out a new online mobile recycling service that encourages people to hand in their old phones. Depending on the make and model of phone being recycled, donors are eligible for gift vouchers. The offer is open to anyone, regardless of their carrier. Tesco carriers can receive up to £70 in airtime and non-carriers have the option of getting up to 300 Green Clubcard Points or donating £3 to the British Red Cross.
