Tokyo Design Week

by Orli Sharaby

The Japanese are masters at sensible, beautiful design — marrying form and function so effortlessly, so often. So it’s nice to take a peek inside Tokyo Design Week which, according to the official website, “is a unique celebration of the power of good design.”

Alternately known as “Tokyo Designer’s Week” (we like how it’s the singular possessive form of “Designer,” like the week was created specifically for each and every individual designer who participates or visits), the main event, 100% Design Tokyo, was built around the theme “Love.” The fringe show, Design Tide, took up the more trendy theme of “Play and Communication.”

Monocle has a nice video recap of the event.
