Nintendo’s Wii was the most successful NextGen console in sales last year. According to the New York Times Blog, more than 6 million Wiis have been sold in 2007. The article speculates that the Wii economy will swell once Nintendo is ready to allow third parties to develop Add-Ons.
In fact they are already popping up – there are for example skins turning your Wii-Mote into Swords, Rackets or Faceplates for Guitar Hero Controllers that turn the white plastic thingy into a stage-beast. The demand for customization, be it to enrich gaming experience or just to wrap controllers nicely up in colored protection skins is obvious.
