EA Introduces New Game Financed by Micro-Transactions

by Matthias Weber (PSFK Hamburg)

battlefield_heroes.jpgThis past weekend at the Digital Life Design Conference in Munich, Dr. Gerhard Florin, the Executive Vice President of EA Publishing, revealed a few details about their forthcoming title Battlefield Heroes. The cartoon-style shooter marks EA’s move into a new business model. Battlefield Heroes will be completely free to download, sourcing revenue from micro-transactions such as the sale of in-game items which can spice up your character with accessories such as helmets or beards. The game itself is expected to be much more accessible than other titles from the Battlefield series.
