Last year at the Salone De Mobile, the global design fair in Milan, Piers noted there were a number of designers experimenting with folded simple furniture made from a single piece of metal.
Today, boing boing points us toward this fantastic piece of shelving that is laser-cut from a single sheet of steel. Designed by Piegato, the unit mounts to a wall with just two screws and the cut-out shelves can be folded in to place by hand with no additional tools required. Thats it.
Because the shelf arrives flat, it makes for simple and cost effective transportation – a growing concern for many consumers.

A great idea, but do they have a soft edge to them though or are they laser cut for that home suicide look?
