Damian Musgrave sent us a report from Brighton where pubs have decided to be a little tight with the smokers who now have to puff outdoors. He says that instead of having heaters on all the time outside pubs for the smokers, a couple of places have installed Pay As You Smoke heaters machines for them. Put 20p in and the heat comes on for 3 mins while you have a smoke.

What a cheek!
It’s almost as bad as when places charge for the duke box. A comfortable environment (heat) and a decent ambience (music) should be gratis.
So customers pay for music, the bar staff’s wages and now heat. I think they should add light – put a quarter in the meter if you want to see your game of pool…
I thought the Germans had a good solution to this:
