Two Years Too Late, PSP Gets Skype

by Piers Fawkes

The Sony PSP is now 2 years old and the hype and excitement that surrounded the launch at the time (see our report here), seems to have faded. While, its competitors like Nintendo seemed to evolve and innovate, Sony just avoided some of the obvious opportunities for their wireless digital device - like making it a WiFi phone. Somehow they seem to have got stuck in the idea that it was a gamer device, not a wireless content player.

A long time in tech-time later and gossip is that Sony is about to launch a partnership with Skype to offer a phone system for gamers. Is this a little too little, a little too late for the device?
