New Eco City: Masdar

by Piers Fawkes

Picture 31.pngInhabitat points us to the plans for a new sustainable, zero-waste, car-free and carbon neutral city that could be built on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi. The city, or really a campus, has been built to reflect the values of the Masdar Institute and aims to highlight innovation in energy-efficiency, sustainable practices, resource recycling, biodiversity, transportation and green building standards.

Every building in the Zone will be designed and constructed to provide a model for sustainable living and working. The city should house 50,000 people and 1,500 businesses.
