ParkAtMyHouse Comes To America

by Jeff Squires

parkatmyhouseIt was just a year ago that we first wrote about ParkAtMyHouse’s collaboration with Zipcar. Today, we’re happy to announce that the UK based web service that allows people to rent out their private parking spots has just launched in America.

The innovative service provides affordable and penalty-free parking around public venues by enabling property-owners to rent out their empty driveways, garages, and spare pieces of land to other drivers needing a place to park. Users can either rent out their space on a regular basis or rent it out on one-off occasions. And through their partnership with Zipcar, property owners can rent their unused parking spots to Zipcar, who not only pay them for the spot, but also give them a year’s free membership.

Because the service relies on individuals to volunteer their own spots, it’s unclear which cities will be the first to adopt the system and how long it will take before the site becomes populated enough to make it realistically functional - a problem that numerous online lending communities are facing.
