Universal Batteries Sold Through Vending Machines

Another one of the winning designs from the Greener Gadgets Design Competition that really made a lot of sense was the Green Cell Universal Battery idea.  Essentially, the concept eliminates the need for all those random chargers and chords you can’t quite seem to shake.

Sold from vending machines, the Green Cell Battery would be a single standardized battery that could fit every type of personal electronic device and be constructed from environmentally friendly materials.  When the battery does run out, it could simply be exchanged for a new one through the vending machine.

Designed by Theo Richardson with Charles Brill & Alex Williams of RBW, the idea took third place in the competition, right behind the DIY energy meter and the LED floor lamp energized by people.
