3D Map of the London Tube

by Matthias Weber (PSFK Hamburg)

We have covered alternative map visualizations such as Edushi’s beautiful isometric maps of Asian megacities and Neo Cartography before. Now we’ve come across this 3D visualization of London’s tube network by the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis which was created with free Google Image Cutter Software. The software allows any digital image or photo to be cut into tiles that can be displayed on a Google Map interface. The application can be used to publish large digital photos or publish your own annotated maps.

Neat to see that there are still other ways of designing maps beyond the straightforward Google aesthetic.
