Vanity Animation

Vanity Animation

By Jason Tan on April 7, 2008

The Philippines is a world leader in outsourced animation services. The industry is growing by a 20% a year and is one of the top five priority industries supported by the local government, which is aiming to have 25,000 animators countrywide by 2010. The traditional clients are large media conglomerates, advertising firms and video game companies, but recently, wealthy individuals have come calling.

Technology and decades of experience have made local animation cost-efficient enough to be considered affordable by the rich. ArtFarm – which is both an animation studio and an animation training center – has recently been hired by a supermodel client to develop and produce a custom-made series featuring her and her family. The current all-in rate is US$1,000 per minute, including script writing, voice acting, music, sound effects, editing and DVD video transfer. The series is intended for private viewing only.

Definitely more interesting than a vacation slide show.
