iPhone Video Recorder

By Dan Gould on May 13, 2008

DreamCatcher has created software that adds a missing feature – video capture – to the iPhone. Video is recorded in the MPEG4 format, which won’t take up a lot of space. The quality is decent, recording 15 frames per second (as opposed to full motion at 30fps). CPU power is conserved by encoding after the recording session. If you encode on the fly the image quality suffers. DreamCatcher only works on Jailbreaked iPhones, and new versions are in the works to keep up with firmware updates and the imminent 3G iPhone release (…which may be coming earlier than expected).
