Spain Opens STD Clinic On Second Life
Spanish-speaking teens can virtually visit a health clinic anonymously on Second Life to ask doctors embarrassing questions that may be left unasked face-to-face. Incorporating instant messaging and video chatting, the clinic will allow teens to privately address pubescent-issues like STDs, dermatological and emotional issues.
Dr Rosario Jimènez, of the Adolescent Attention Working Group, is one of the doctors who will spend up to four hours a week answering their virtual patients’ questions.
“This is a way to talk about their doubts about taking drugs or sexual relations which they cannot do in a traditional consultation.”
