Geovictwardianism

Geovictwardianism is a throwback subculture hailing from the UK that takes its inspiration from the country’s earlier days. The Geovictwardian style of dress is similar to the ethos propounded by Dandyism and Chap Magazine. They go deeper than just fashion, providing a whole worldview, celebrating “the idiosyncratic and the independent, the eccentric and the unusual”.

Dazed & Confused has an interview with Alex Betts, founder of the movement:

D&C: What Exactly is a Geovictwardian?

AB: Geovictwardianism is made up of Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian ideas, brought up to date. From the Georgian era, we have the fact that men dressed well, and a certain sexual licentiousness; from the Victorians we are interested in what’s called the “can do” attitude - our Victorian forebearers would say, “We can do anything,” and they did, boundaries simply didn’t concern them; and of course from the Edwardians we adopt this incredible self-assured nature.
