Get in line now, Berkeley Bionics is taking orders for the HULC (Human Universal Load Carrier) exoskeleton. Composed of 2 powered legs, a micro computer, power supply and backpack unit, it assists the user in carrying up to 200 pound loads without feeling the strain of the weight. The HULC itself only weighs 31 pounds and folds down for easy transport. It’s designed to be used in demanding military operations, but there’s hope that it could replace wheelchairs for many people.

Wheelchairs? Fine, very commendable. Personally I want to run to work in it across Manhattan Bridge.
