We are excited to have Ed Cotton of Butler, Shine, Stern and Partners (and the brains behind Influx Insights, one of our favorite blogs about branding, culture, and trends) joining us for PSFK Conference San Francisco 2008. Ed will be speaking about “Trends- Should you care?” (His answer: Yes, you should!?)

First, who are you and what do you do?

Ed Cotton, Director of Strategy at BSSP. My team looks after all research, strategy and accountability at the agency where our clients include; MINI, Columbia, Priceline, Epson and Ritz-Carlton.

You’ll be speaking about “Trends-Should you care?” Can you sum up why trends and inspiration matter and what inspiration to expect in your presentation?

An understanding of trends is fundamental to brand success. They provide the pathway to consumer relevance, but there not always that easy to spot and what if your supposed trend turns out to be a fad? I will be looking at Trends in a 2.0 world, what they really are and how they can be used to inspire creative thinking.

Five sites that provide you with inspiration:
