@Mark: Not exactly, in a piezoelectric circuit the floor will be basically on semi-rigid girders that have piezoelectric crystal cylinders spread throughout. The floor wouldn’t feel any different really, maybe a little more bouncy but that’s about it. They are starting to get funding to add this tech to busy roadways, hopefully we can do completely without big electric in some time.

In fact the Dance Floor and the concept of the Sustainable Dance Club is an initiative of The Sustainable Dance Club http://www.sustainabledanceclub.com and invented by Enviu – http://www.enviu.org. They do all kinds of other great things too. You should check them out.

I think anything can be made to generate power. A dance club can harness it’s power from the dance floor. If you’re a blogger, the keyboard can be turned into a generator harnessing power from your typing.

Wow! I think this sounds so cool. What a brilliant idea. Geez, they should do this to the floors of schools and daycare centers. I’ve said many times if we could somehow harness the power of my two kids we’d have an endless supply of energy to our house!

Seems to me that this would act like walking in sand would act on your walk or run.

In other words, the dancers would get very tired very quickly. Seems just a matter of time before they all go elsewhere.
