Augment Memory with Digitalization, Algorithms and Syncing

By Nicko Margolies on July 30, 2008

IBM Research recently showcased a new project entitled Pensieve, that looks to organize your life based on digitizing contact information and pairing it with photos and other tags. This idea has already been developed with projects like Evernote and by independent developers, but IBM hopes to wrap all the latest authentication technology into one neat package. The goal of the project is to create a personal database of contacts that associates and extracts data from photos and business cards. The video gives a (vague) idea of how Pensieve works; we’re most interested in seeing how this idea could be implemented in the modern workplace. Below is a quote from the video and the full thing:

“The system ingests new pictures and prepares them for processing using sophisticated optical recognition…with the personal memory organizer everything becomes more memorable.”
