PSFK is in the Mojave desert watching Richard Branson reveal Virgin’s open-architecture spaceship called Eve. This ship will take a smaller rocket ship which will reach the outer atmosphere. They hope anyone can fly in it, including Richard’s 91 year old dad and Stephen Hawking. Spaceports will be built in the US, Scotland, Sweden and beyond.
They hope that the open aspect of the technology will fuel innovation in space. Branson says that we need to go to space for the survival of the human race. They also hope that the technology will be used for high altitude point to point earth travel.

Wow, I envy your being there for the reveal! Where’s the center portion of the aircraft that actually carries the passengers? Are they still working on it?
