An article by Alex Bagner published both in the Financial Times and Wallpaper looks at the DesignArt movement which he says has been developed over the last three years. Although he fails to truly define the movement in the piece, he starts by saying:
The bold spirit, creativity and sheer impracticability of all those limited edition pieces were not just the perfect counterbalance to the minimal years that had preceded them, they represented a new blurring of boundaries that could be debated and discussed ad infinitum. As well as show-stopping items, the movement came with a host of new designers filled with personality and vigour. It all seemed just too good to refuse.
Key players listed are:
Matti Klenell – a Swedish artists who develops glass pieces for manufacturers. Link

Sam Hecht and Kim Colin of Industrial Facility – a British duo who work with Herman Miller and Muji to “simplify complexity”. Link

Ilaria Marelli – an Italian designer who works with companies like Zanotta to create products that “improve everyday life”. Link
