Lamp Uses Packaging As Design

Designer David Gardener’s new lamp is packaged in itself in a sense, using its paper pulp body and shade as packing material. The power cord, switch and lightbulb are packed within the hollow interior, and once assembled becomes a working table lamp.

“The Packaging lamp was first inspired from my observations of how much packaging material is wasted from every new product bought,” explains Gardener. “The idea is to eliminate this waste material by including it all in the final product.” “The idea is to eliminate this waste material by including it all in the final product.”
