This car we saw for sale near Santa Monica made us wonder if the classic car market has been affected in the same way the SUV market has. We can’t find any reports but it makes you wonder: Many of these older cars are sports cars with lower MPG – can the owners still afford to take the cars out for a spin at the weekend anymore?

Do you think that it might be that people just can’t afford to have their money tied up in extra “hobby cars” when the economy tightens?
After all, a 1970s Porche 911, while no Prius, gets between 14-18 mpg, a good deal more to the gallon than a lot of current cars and trucks.
